What is an adjustment?
An adjustment is a swift thrust applied to a joint that is restricted in movement with the intent of restoring proper movement. Occasionally you may hear a cracking noise although this does not mean an adjustment was effective.
What is the cracking Noise?
The cracking noise results from air moving in the joint capsule similar to when you crack your knuckles.
Do Adjustments Hurt?
Adjustments are generally painless. Some can experience some discomfort if they are already experiencing pain with movement.
Do I have to get adjusted?
No you don’t. There are a number of different types of treatment Dr. Kyle uses to get you back to your activities. This is something that we discuss during an initial appointment.
Do I need x-rays?
Most cases do not require an x-ray before starting treatment. If you have copies of images that have been taken, please bring them to your appointment. X-rays are good for the evaluation of bony structures while limited when evaluating nerves, muscles and ligaments.
How often do I need treatment?
The frequency and length of treatment is highly dependent on a number of variables including the length of injury, overall health and activity requirements. We always work to get you to your health goals. While some find resolution of their symptoms in a few treatments’ others require treatment at regular intervals.
Types of Care
Some patients require treatment at regular intervals as they find this fits their overall health goals. Others find with regular exercise and return to activity they do not require treatment at regular intervals. Everyone is unique and your care should reflect that.
