Your first appointment will take approximately 40-50 minutes and includes a thorough history, physical examination and a report of findings. I spend this time to get a comprehensive understanding of your injury and the patterns of re-injury. In the report of findings we will talk about the diagnosis and options for care. Plain film imaging may be requested in accordance with medical imaging guidelines.
Care plans typically require more frequent appointments initially to help reduce your discomfort and return you to regular activities. Visits will decrease in frequency as we progress through your care. Care commonly involves a combination of hands on therapy and exercise prescription. As part of the assessment a combination of objective and subjective goals are gathered to monitor therapeutic outcomes.
Communication is considered to be a key component as a member of a healthcare team. When appropriate and with permission ongoing communication will be utilized with your medical practitioner. As discussed during the report of findings you may be referred back to your healthcare provider. This will be done in the event contraindications for care are found or underlaying pathology suspected. While these cases are rare it is important that we promote the correct type of care for your condition to provide the highest level of safety and the best overall result.
